We have an exciting opportunity to earn some fundraising money for our dancers!  The Kiwanis Holiday Lights are asking for volunteers to help with set-up, during the festival of lights and tearing down.  We need 5 people on Nov. 3rd from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  On December 8th we will need 8 volunteers and on January 1st we will need 3 volunteers to help tear down.  Please keep in mind that in the past it has been approx. $100.00 per volunteer that can go towards classes, costumes, competition entrance fees for dances etc.  Anyone volunteering must be 16 or over for safety purposes. If your dancer is not old enough to help, no worries. A parent can still raise funds for the dancer.

Other fun opportunities for this event is the opening parade.  Each non-profit is invited to be a part of the parade. If anyone would like to be a part of this please let us know.  We need to have the application in before Nov. 9th.  I’m thinking a fun idea is to find a flatbed trailer decorated with lights and have the girls wear battery operated lights on their arms and legs and do a dance……something to that idea.  The more ideas the better!!

Also we have a tree to decorate!  Each group is given a tree to decorate.  Again the more ideas the better!! The first place tree will receive $300.00, 2nd place will receive $150 and 3rd place will receive $50.  Trees will need to be decorated between Nov. 17th to Nov. 22nd.

A few notes to pass on.  I know the cold puts a lot of people off but do keep in mind that on the night that we work the park (Dec. 8th) they do rotate people approximately every 15 minutes.  That means that some areas are heated and gives you time to warm up.  They provide a free meal for all volunteers. It is a fun night of meeting new people and possibly seeing old friends and helping out a great cause and bringing people to our community.
